August 2016 Plan for Autumn and Spring

1. Vegetable Beds

We are going to adjust the shape to take into account the cherry tree being removed.

Carlos will install an arbor/gate.

2. Hydrangeas

The plan is to add 1 Spiraea on corner where hydrangeas meet Spiraea to finish off the line of spiraea

- We will lift and then add compost to hydrangeas in the Spring. I am going to get a soil sample tomorrow and send off with some others that I have to send.

* I was thinking a Summersweet (Clethra) might work in the corner of the front porch where water is getting dumped on the Hydrangea. They love the extra wet, are sturdy and fragrant.

3. Pool Beds

We are going to add phlox (and lilies?) in the back, in the gaps between vitex to get bold, white in there to contrast the purples and blues.

We will add the wedding gown hydrangeas to the corners once they arrive from Surfing.

4. Boundary bed

We are going to start clearing the back boundary to make room for what is already planted and then slowly add things to the boundary for a bit of color. Once it is cleared and we can see what is thriving, we can discuss what to add and when.

5. Stone wall beds

I am going to move a couple things to give them some more space near the clematis.

We are going to shift the small sedum into fewer clumps, where they are already thriving, then replace with the strong-pink geranium that is on the corners.

6. New Bed to match Stone Wall Beds

Jose will clear out the boxwood and prepare the area for a bed that lines up with the bed on the other side of the path. This bed will be planted to match. Jose will lay sods in front.

All the work will take place after the 15th of September.
