Gardens originated for practical purposes - growing herbs, growing vegetables and other crops. They originated as a means to keep the wild out - to have cultivated, maintained spaces that created a boundary between the home and the frontier, the wilds that lay beyond. They were designed and created to keep the wild out.
But times have changed and, as we urbanize and build and develop, at the cost of our diminishing 'wilds' - forests, streams, woodlands, lakes, bogs and beaches, our gardens and our landscapes should reflect this change. It is time to bring the wild back in. Remind us of our origins and allow us spaces to connect with the natural world.
Through thoughtful design that takes into consideration each unique site as well as the impact of the constructed landscape, we utilize a combination of science, nature, instinct, artistry and practicality to create stunning landscapes of all sizes and shapes.
